POLICE have issued an artist’s impression of a man wanted for a sex attack which left an Essex teenager traumatised.

Detectives are appealing for information following the serious sexual assault on the girl - aged in her late teens - at South Woodham Ferrers near Chelmsford.

The attack happened near flats in Meriadoc Drive shortly before 3am on Sunday.

The victim has been interviewed by specially trained officers and managed to provide a detailed description of her attacker and police have now created an e-fit.

He was a white man aged 19 to 20, slim, with short medium brown hair, and was wearing a white, crew necked, thin, knitted style jumper and dark jeans.

Detective Chief Inspector Godfrey O’Toole, who is leading the investigation, said: “The man showed that he had some local knowledge of the area and I believe that he has lived or stayed there.

“I urge anyone who has any information that could help police to identify him to contact us.”

The teenager first encountered the man in Ferrers Road, near Hullbridge Road, as she was making her way towards an area known locally as The Lord of the Rings estate.

Anyone with information should contact the north east major investigation team on 0300 333 4444 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
