A Sherman tank arrived at a Suffolk heritage railway station this afternoon ahead of two days of events recreating the atmosphere and scenes of the Second World War.
The Mid Suffolk Light Railway’s Brockford Station, which is near Stowmarket, received delivery of the impressive military vehicle as part of preparations for the Middy in the War Years event.
The event, which takes place on Sunday and Monday, will feature displays, re-enactments and a possible return of the RAF’s Battle of Britain Memorial, which is hoped to provide a Hurricane flypast on Sunday.
Music and dancing will be provided by Brown Penny Club and May Blossom.
Two steam engines will be offering rides to visitors, who can also enjoy refreshments from the room and real ale bar, There will also be a barbecue at Dovebrook Halt, so visitors can catch a train to lunch in the picnic area.
