Bestselling crime author Ann Cleeves is set to visit Bury St Edmunds to talk about her latest novel.

Cleeves, who wrote the books which inspired the ITV series Vera and BBC drama Shetland, will visit the town to discuss her new book - Wild Fire.

Her latest novel is the eighth, and final, book in the Shetland collection, which features DI Jimmy Perez, solving crimes on the remote Scottish island.

Wild Fire tells the story of an English family who move to the area, drawn by the reputation of the islands, in the hopes of giving their autistic son a better life.

But when a young nanny’s body is found hanging in the barn of their home, rumours of her affair with the husband begin to spread.

The event will be held at the Unitarian Meeting House on Tuesday, September 11, and will include a talk and an opportunity to ask questions, with copies of the new book available to buy and be signed on the day.

Doors open at 12.30pm and the talk will start at 1pm. Tickets cost £8, which includes a light buffet lunch and are available from Waterstones in the Arc shopping centre in Bury St Edmunds in person or by calling 01284 750726.

Alison Kerridge, Waterstones manager in the Arc, said: “As a long term fan of both the novels and television adaptations, I am delighted that Ann Cleeves has chosen to visit Bury St Edmunds as part of her latest book tour to talk about her new novel.

“This is going to be a really unique and special lunchtime event.”
