Shop owner victim of hammer attack

A MAN was struck with a claw hammer when three masked men confronted him in his Colchester shop.

The 31-year-old victim was attacked at Hythe Food and Calpana at Hythe Quay at 9.45pm on Sunday.

Three men, all wearing balaclavas, burst into the premises and stole £200 in cash from the till and electricity tokens.

One of the robbers was armed with a claw hammer with which he struck the shop owner on the shoulder although he was not injured and a second had an object wrapped in a piece of cloth which could have been a fire arm.
