Commuters travelling to work on Greater Anglia services this morning are facing delays and cancellations due to a signalling issue.
A fault with the signalling system at Witham is blocking some lines, bosses have said, and disruption is expected until at least 7.30am.
Train services between Liverpool Street and Witham, Colchester, Clacton, Ipswich and Norwich are being delayed.
Greater Anglia chiefs are warning passengers that there may be short notice alterations, delays and cancellations on these services.
Network Rail engineers are on site and are working as quickly as possible to restore the train service.
Both Greater Anglia and Network Rail have apologised for the disruption.
