Signed Ed Sheeran guitar to be sold at Suffolk auction to help village hall project
It could be the perfect opportunity for anyone who wants to own a piece of pop music memorabilia.
Or it could be the chance to learn to play on an instrument once owned by one of the world’s biggest pop stars.
But that’s enough of thinking out loud if you don’t want to miss the chance of owning one of Ed Sheeran’s guitars.
For the Suffolk singer/songwriter has donated the instrument to an appeal to help raise money for village hall funds.
The star has donated a Martin & Co, Sheeran X Signature guitar - and signed it - to be sold for charity at the Clarke & Simpson auction at Campsea Ashe on Monday April 9, 2018.
It also comes with a Martin & Co gig bag.
The guitar has been included in the Clarke & Simpson Art Deco, 20th Century design and retro auction, and is being sold in aid of the Dennington village hall charity.
Chairman of Dennington village hall, James Maberly, said: “We are very excited about it. We would like to make as much as possible, between £2,000 and £6,000 for the village hall project. The auction is also on the internet, so who knows what will happen.”
Ed Sheeran had donated the guitar, he said.
Dennington, with a population of little more than 580, is looking to raise £250,000 to redevelop the village hall.
It is currently little more than a barn, with no heating. it needs heating, better insulation and other improvements.
“We have raised about £220,00 so far, we are in the last stages, but it is proving tough.
“This could help make the difference.”
They hoped to reach the fundraising target during April/May with the aim of starting work on the project during the summer.
The Clarke & Simpson auction is at the Campsea Ashe sale rooms on Monday April 9, beginning at 9.30am. The Ed Sheeran guitar is Lot 401.
