POLICE were called to an alleged murder scene by worried neighbours who heard screaming in the middle of the night, it has emerged.

It is understood Suffolk police was called by at least one concerned resident in Bull Rush Crescent in Bury St Edmunds at about 2.45am today.

One neighbour, who did not want to be identified, said “heard screaming” and called the police immediately.

When the police arrived they discovered the victim, a woman in her 30s, injured with stab wounds. She was taken to West Suffolk Hospital but died a short time later.

A murder investigation has now been set up by the police and 40-year-old man was arrested at a separate address in Bockhill Road.
