A neighbour living close to the Ipswich flat where a man and woman were found dead says he had never heard any arguments there.
The double death in Siloam Place on Monday morning is being treated as a “tragic incident involving two people known to each other”, according to police.
Officers were called to the scene just after 8.50am where a man was found with serious injuries after falling from a window – from which he later died – and a deceased woman was found inside the property.
Neighbour, chef Sadik Kayhan, 37, lives in the flat directly below the two people and was working late the night before the incident.
He arrived home at about midnight before deciding to go to sleep in his lounge which overlooks the street.
Mr Kayhan said: “I went to bed about half-four. I was sleeping in the lounge and I heard a crashing sound and then sirens.
“I thought it was the TV at first but then I looked down out of the window and saw a man on the ground with paramedics already there.
“That was what I saw first thing in the morning.”
Mr Kayhan said that many people come and go in the building but that everyone he has met is friendly.
He didn’t know the two people who died but he never heard any disturbances coming from their flat.
“We never heard any arguments or fighting, anything like that,” he said.
He continued: “We all have families and people we love here, and when we read in the newspapers and online about things like this it makes us very sad, we don’t want this area to be associated with violence.”
Another neighbour, who lives just doors down from the incident and saw paramedics attempt to resuscitate the man, said: “I didn’t know what was going on at first, I had just woken up and my housemate told me to look outside.
“It was definitely shocking, we saw the guy receiving CPR but I didn’t recognise him.
“It’s just not something you expect to see on your own doorstep.”
Police have said there is no threat to the wider community, but are appealing with anyone with any information about these deaths to make contact with our officers.
