FIRE crews were called out twice to the same road in the space of just a few hours after six cars were set alight in the early hours of this morning.

Two appliances were first sent to Studlands Park in Newmarket at just before 2am after reports that three cars had been set on fire.

They arrived to find the vehicles well alight and used breathing apparatus and water fogs to put out the flames, which were fully extinguished by 2.50am.

At just before 4.30am the same two crews from Newmarket Fire Station were sent back to Studlands Park after reports that another three cars were on fire.

These fires were again extinguished within half an hour using water fogs and a fire service spokesman said they were of a “doubtful origin”.
