One crew from Princes Street fire station attended the scene on Chapman Lane just off Black Horse Lane in the town centre at about 1.07am.
On arrival firefighters found one commercial skip, near to the car park of the old council building, with its contents well alight.
One hose reel and a short extension ladder was used to extinguish the flames, and the incident was under control by 2.01am.
