Sledge hammers and axe used to break into Clare Co-op

Police are appealing for information after a west Suffolk Co-op store was burgled in the early hours of today.

Officers were called at 12.40am to reports of suspects using sledge hammers and an axe to break in to the Co-op in Clare.

A dark coloured Audi was believed to be involved in the incident and suspects made off with stolen goods from the store.

Suffolk police are asking anyone with information to contact them via their website, or by calling 101, quoting incident 3 of March 21.

This is not the first time the store has been targeted.

In 2016, thieves used a JCB digger machine to rip out the ATM, which contained an unknown quantity of cash.

The ATM was later found opened in Nethergate Street.
