SUFFOLK'S residents may be waking up to snow in the morning as the cold snap continues.

Forecasters have predicted that as temperatures plummet to -5C this evening there may be up to 1cm of snow in some areas of Suffolk - most likely in the east of the county.

Throughout today temperatures have struggled to get above freezing point and forecasters have predicted this will remain the case until the start of next week.

WeatherQuest forecaster James Wilby said: “We have been used to having milder winters and I think that has been the problem because we are a little bit below average and we are really noticing it.

“This is a bit more of what some people will remember as a normal winter but it is just abnormal to us because winters have been so much milder.”
