THE team at Adnams are used to receiving imports of wine from all over the world, but less common is the discovery of a two-inch long illegal immigrant.
A mottled brown, leaf-like unicorn mantis was discovered at the eco-distribution centre in Reydon, near Southwold.
The unusual visitor arrived with a lorry-load of Argentinian wine.
Alison Kibble, Adnams’ very own eco-warrior, sent out a plea for help from staff and the mantis was taken to a lecturer at the exotics unit of Otley College, near Ipswich, by Sarah Tilbrook.
Emma Hibbert, head of corporate affairs at Adnams, said the mantis did not seem too concerned by his lengthy trip.
“Judging by his feisty attempts to scale a glass in which he was captured, he seemed unaffected by his long journey,” she said.
