A high achieving student has been honoured with a special award at Bungay High School’s annual presentation evening.

Mary Stammers, 17, received a shield and £100 of book tokens for obtaining 11 A* grades in her GSCEs, including triple science. She was presented with the shield and tokens by Jacqui Sayer of Observatory the Opticians in Beccles, which sponsored the award ceremony.

Teacher David Paull, who nominated Mary, said: “We are delighted that a student at our school has managed to achieve such remarkable grades. We are very proud of Mary and she should be very proud of herself. We would like thank Observatory the Opticians whose support made the awards ceremony possible.”

Ms Sayer added: “To gain 11 A* grades is an outstanding achievement and I was honoured to present the award.”
