Volunteers have given Bury St Edmunds town centre a spring clean to get it looking ship-shape for when the Anglia in Bloom judges visit next month.
St Edmundsbury councillors and Bury in Bloom committee members, armed with mops and buckets, washed down rubbish bins, painted benches and bollards, and removed chewing gum.
Melanie Lesser, Bury in Bloom co-ordinator, said: “I was delighted to see everyone working hard to get the town looking good. We had many compliments from both residents and visitors on the difference we were making to the street furniture. The hanging baskets will be going up next week and the town will then be at it’s floral best when the Anglia in Bloom judges visit on July 14.”
