Nicki Song and Wendy Li have made the long trip from Shanghai to be in front of pupils at Stanton Primary School as part of a Maths Mastery initiative which is aimed at helping to improve the subject and broaden the pupils’ knowledge.

Both have bought their teaching methods to the Year 1 and Year 5 groups which has been organised by the maths lead at the school and deputy head teacher Liz Bonnelykke.

She said: “It’s an opportunity for us to share good practices and show the elements which work well and the results have proven to be quite high.

“We are passionate about maths at the school and this idea helps to put us on the map being out in such a rural place as Stanton.”
