Star-studded event for Mildenhall grandmother

A charitable Mildenhall grandmother was presented with her Enterprising Mum of the Year award at a star-studded ceremony on Sunday.

Kate Geeson attended the Savoy Hotel, in London, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Fearne Cotton, Strictly Come Dancing’s Ola and James Jordan and many others.

The 60-year-old is a co-founder of the Phoenix Milton Trust, which offers supported work experience and qualifications to young adults and those with learning difficulties.

She was nominated for the Tesco Mum of the Year award by her daughter. As a winner of the award, Mrs Geeson has earnt £5,000 for the trust.

She said: “Every penny will go towards our charity, we really need new equipment in the production buildings, so the money will help buy this too.”

The Suffolk charity has helped over 600 people since it was founded in 2006, funding itself by selling their own products. To find out more visit www.phoenixtrust.org
