Nominations for the Stars of Babergh and Mid Suffolk awards remain open until the end of the month.

The awards have received great interest since their launch earlier this year. With the support of the event sponsors, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are encouraging others from across the districts to come forward with their stories of citizenship, innovation and kindness.

As one of the first event sponsors, Flagship Group’s head of partnerships, Ceri Theobald, said: “We’re really proud to be part of the first ever Stars of Babergh and Mid Suffolk awards. They are a fantastic way of recognising people who have made a positive difference in the communities they live. We wanted to play a part in helping acknowledge those who have gone above and beyond, and the Community Spirit Award was a category we were keen to support.”

Awards are open to both inspirational businesses and individuals based in Babergh and Mid Suffolk. A full list of awards can be found on the councils’ website.

Julie Flatman, Mid Suffolk District Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “These awards are the perfect way to appreciate the real heroes and heroines of our community. We’re proud to be able to give those special people who give so much but expect nothing in return the recognition they deserve”.

Margaret Maybury, Babergh District Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, added: “There are so many tremendous things that go on within our community that often go unspoken. We have a wonderful opportunity to promote these stories and award the selfless and hard-working individuals and businesses of our community”.

The awards are being held at St Mary’s Church, Hadleigh, on Thursday, October 18.

Nominations can be made via the East Anglian Daily Times until September 28 at http://www.eadt.co.uk/news/nominate-your-community-heroes-for-the-new-stars-of-babergh-and-mid-suffolk
