Officials behind the Stars of Suffolk awards are urging people to make nominations for carer of the year.

Nomination’s for this year’s Star of Suffolk award have been coming in but they are lacking in the carer of the year category.

The Stars of Suffolk awards is your chance to acknowledge and nominate someone who sees themselves as ordinary, yet has done something extraordinary.

It could be that they make an outstanding contribution to their community, have shown extreme bravery and courage, go above and beyond to help another or someone who has made a massive difference to the lives of others.

The awards have 13 categories including carer of the year, young person of the year, sporting achievement and four categories for the emergency services. This includes hospital/ambulance medical person of the year, search and rescue team, police hero, and fire service.

The Stars of Suffolk Awards were launched 10 years ago by Mick Parker, managing director of Parker Communications.

He said: “Carers have a huge impact in our community and we wanted to reflect that in the makeup of the Stars of Suffolk Awards. We therefore have dedicated one category in an amazing evening of recognition as ‘Carer of the Year 2017’.

“Deserved finalists over the past decade in the Stars of Suffolk Awards have highlighted to totally selfless, compassionate and caring work that goes on, often unseen in this wonderful county of ours.

He added: “We therefore ask the people of Suffolk to nominate someone that they know, so that we can give them the recognition that they so richly deserve. Please make your nomination via the online form.

“We look forward to another incredible Stars of Suffolk Awards evening where the real heroes and heroines of our community are recognised.”

A panel of judges will look at the nominations and create a shortlist of three finalists from each category.

Each finalist will be invited to attend the awards ceremony at Trinity Park on Thursday, November 9.

All winners will receive a gong and a special prize relevant to the individual.

Nominations for the awards close on Friday, October 13. To nominate someone, fill out the online form on our website.
