In 1984, the BBC was running its third series of programmes on English towns and one of those featured was Suffolk's historical gem: Bury St Edmunds.

Presenter of ‘Another Six English Towns’ was the architectural historian Alec Clifton-Taylor. Here he takes a stroll through the streets and educates viewers on the many important features and buildings in Bury St Edmunds.

Full of recognisable sights and retro cars, it is a charming window into the not-too-distant past.

Take a stroll through 1984 and see just how much (or how little) has changed in the last few decades.

Did you know Bury St Edmunds in the 1980s? What shops do you remember that are no longer in the town? Let us know below.
