Visitors to an owl sanctuary can now let children use a new play area, claimed to be the only one of its kind, custom-made for youngsters with disabilities.

Staff at Suffolk Owl Sanctuary, based at Stonham Barns, near Stowmarket, have launched the equipment with an open day.

The area offers accessibility to children in wheelchairs and with disabilities.

A spokeswoman for the sanctuary said: “Over the last couple of years, the owl sanctuary’s fundraiser, Maz Robinson, has worked tirelessly to raise funds specifically for the installation of a new play area.

“The owl sanctuary has always striven to become completely inclusive to as wide a spectrum of visitors as possible.”

At the play area there is also a sensory garden with scented planting which it is hoped will attract butterflies and bees to the facility.
