Allegations of a rape in Stowmarket have proved unfounded after a “full and thorough” police investigation.
Suffolk police have called off the appeal for information launched when a woman reported being sexually assaulted in an area off Tavern Street on Sunday November 23.
“A full and thorough investigation has taken place and it was concluded that the incident did not occur,” a police spokesman said.
The woman is receiving specialist support from police while the circumstances of her original report are considered.
