The 27th annual night of boxing, food and wine was put together by Dale Roberts, head of training at Eastgate Amateur Boxing Club based in Bury St Edmunds – and was dedicated to the memory of Black Tie Lion Ernie Pearce, who founded the event.

Stowmarket Lion President Tony Wass said in a tribute: “His legacy of a Black Tie Charity Boxing Dinner still proves to be a winner all round and if anything is growing in popularity.

“It serves as a great showcase for the boxers to show their skills in front of a large audience. The auction allows Eastgate Amateur Boxing Club to also gain some funding for the developments to their Boxing Club at Rougham Airfield, Bury St Edmunds.

“Add to that great food, wine and service and you have a winning formula.”
