A teenager from a Suffolk town has shaved his head for charity in an attempt to help a friend who is living with leukaemia.

Finley Horton, who is 14, had his head shaved as part of CLIC Sargent’s ‘Big Buzz’ and also raised funds for Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust – raising £625.55, which will be split between the two causes.

Finley, from Stowmarket, said: “CLIC Sargent gave my friend help and Addenbrooke’s paid for the medicine. I thought if I could
raise enough I could pay for more chemotherapy, not just for
him but other children too.”

He added he hoped to raise £200 for each charity, and was pleased to have broken his target.

Sue Knight, of the town’s Tesco store, where the head shave took place, along with bag-packing, face-painting and a lucky dip for children, said: “He had managed to get a lot of his friends and there was a really good atmosphere and he did really well.”
