TWO people had to be helped free from an overturned car following an accident in Stowmarket this morning.

The crash happened on Stowmarket Road at just before 8am and crews from Needham Market, Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds were sent to the scene.

They arrived to find the blue Vauxhall Astra balanced on its side across a ditch. An adult and a child were trapped inside and once the car had been stabilised, crews released the pair.

They were left in the care of ambulance paramedics, who had also been sent to the scene. They were not seriously hurt.

The road was blocked for about 90 minutes while the vehicle was recovered.
