Students at an Ipswich college were treated to a week of fun and informative activities as part of the annual freshers’ week.

Every lunchtime, visitors came to the college to hand out information to students ranging from fitness and faith to vehicles and volunteering.

External organisations included Anytime Fitness, Community Action Suffolk, Innocent Drinks and the University of Suffolk.

Janet Perry, one of the visitors representing Community Action Suffolk, said: “We came along to encourage students to get involved in volunteering as it helps them develop their CV, gain new skills and make friends. We often work with charities as it allows people to help people and make a difference. It was great to come along – it’s always nice to visit the college.”

Bethany Pughe, who has just started on a level three business course at Suffolk New College, said: “There has been lots of things to try out. I would recommend the college to others as it’s better than sixth form.”

Holly Scamponi, also on a level three business course, said: “I chose the college as I know it’s a good college. You get lots of additional support.”

Marketing manager, Craig Shimmon, added: “This has been a great start to the year. There was a real buzz around the college.”
