Writtle College in Chelmsford took part in a world record bid for the number of people simultaneously eating Fairtrade bananas.
The international “banana eating marathon” is over a 24-hour period and is due to finish at noon today.
The Writz and Chef restaurants on the main campus, the student shop and the “Watering Hole” at the Cow Watering Lane Campus were packed out for the attempt.
The college is currently working towards gaining Fairtrade status.
Jo Hasnip, conference and catering manager, said: “Writtle College, as part of its commitment to sustainability, strives to be a Fairtrade College.

“Fairtrade foods are available in all retail and catering outlets and there is a commitment to extend the range of products offered. Fairtrade foods and beverages are served at all meetings hosted by the college and the student union and in all management offices.”
