UCS students have worked with local businesses and Ipswich Borough Council to create exciting plans for their annual summer ball.

Organisers of the University Campus Suffolk event hope to attract up to 800 students and staff to the masquerade ball on May 30.

The ball, which will be held in the Grand Hall at Ipswich Corn Exchange, has been organised by a committee of students from events, tourism and hospitality management courses.

Sarah Harris, lecturer on the degree programme, said: “We are very pleased to be collaborating this year with Suffolk New College’s catering and hospitality team and their students.

“We have really enjoyed working together in creating a delicious selection of canapés, which include delights such as mini bangers and mash, Yorkshire puddings with roast beef and horseradish. The college students will be making and serving the canapés on the night and will also get a taste of the UCS social scene.”

The student team has secured entertainment; headlining are The Midnight Beast and Radio One DJ Chris Stark as well as local artists Renegade Twelve, Avenir Avenue and home-grown UCS student DJ Amy Wiles.

Esther Pemberton, who is part of the team organising the ball at UCS, wished to thank organisations for their support including Greene King, Pentahotel, Maud’s Attic and Liquid Nightclub.
