A PRISONER who failed to return to prison after being allowed out on day release has been arrested after he pressed the buzzer at a Suffolk police station.
Billy Sullivan, 33, was at Highpoint Prison in Stradishall, near Bury St Edmunds, when he was allowed out on day release on December 16.
However, Sullivan, who is serving eight and a half years for wounding and attempting to pervert the course of justice, failed to return, triggering a police hunt which included Suffolk and Essex.
This morning, blue-eyed Sullivan, who is 5ft 8ins tall and of stocky build, was arrested at Sudbury police station and taken into custody.
A spokeswoman for the police said: “We would like to thank those members of the media who publicised this particular case in their publications and broadcasts.”
