Suffolk Fire and Rescue said that four appliances were called to the blaze at the four storey home which they were alerted to shortly before 9am this morning.

A spokesman for the fire service said that all persons in the house had been accounted for.

“Crews used six breathing apparatus, two hose reels, two 45mm jets, and two thermal imaging cameras to extinguish the fire.”

Fire fighters believe the cause to be accidental at this stage.

Crews from Essex County Fire and Rescue also took part in the response.

Suffolk police said they were called at 9.05am this morning to help with traffic management.

Large sections of Cats Lane were closed while emergency services were on the scene.

A stop was called on the fire at 10.15 am this morning. Two engines remained on the scene for a short time after this but have since left the scene.
