TWO Rotary clubs have delivered £2000 to the East Anglian Air Ambulance service together with a big thank you.
This week a cheque was handed over to representatives of the airborne paramedic service as the main beneficary of the 2012 Sudbury Rotary Christmas Tree Festival organised by Sudbury Talbot Rotary Club and Sudbury Rotary.
The clubs chose the Air Ambulance after Mrs Beverly Richardson, wife of Sudbury Rotarian Philip Richardson, was saved by the service in April last year. She was transferred to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge shortly after she was involved in a vehicle collision outside her home in Sudbury.
“Seeing how Beverly has recovered from her life-threatening injuries, and knowing that it was thanks to the Air Ambulance that she reached hospital so swiftly, inspired our choice,” said David Taylor, president of Sudbury Rotary Club.
Paramedic Neil Flowers and Catherine Sheppard, deputy fundraising co-ordinator for the East Anglian Air Ambulance met Rotary members on Monday to receive the cheque.
An additional £1200 raised by the Christmas Tree Festival is due to presented to the Friends of St Peter while the remaining £1130 is be divided equally between the two clubs to enable them to support other good causes throughout the year.
