Local strongman Chris Rix will be demonstrating his truck-pulling ability in Long Melford on Saturday to help raise funds for his forthcoming world championship bid.

It comes ahead of him taking part in the World’s Strongest Disabled Man Championship, in Norway, on Saturday, September 8.

He will be at Nethergate Brewery, on Rodbridge Corner, from noon, and there will also be live music and a barbecue.

The 32-year-old, who comes from Alpheton and works at Sudbury’s Tesco store, has cerebral palsy. He qualified for the World Championship, which will be held in Bodo, by taking third place in a category in Iceland at the end of July, where truck pulling was one of the five disciplines he competed in.

Saturday’s session is a fund raiser to help cover the costs of transport and accommodation for the World Championship. There will also be the chance for people to test their strength.

Chris trains at Zest in Sudbury and local firm TGA sponsors his training.
