How long have you lived/worked in Sudbury?

I have just completed 10 years at the Town Council. I was the Deputy Town Clerk from August 2008 and then Town Clerk from October 2014. I don’t live in Sudbury but probably spend more time here than in my village near to Bury St Edmunds.

What are your interests/hobbies and how well are they catered for in the town?

Much of my spare time is spent looking after my animals – 10 alpacas and 11 sheep. I have also recently started playing hockey again after nearly 40 years.

In your view, what are Sudbury’s top three attributes?

Sudbury is a wonderful historic market town which has managed to retain its quaint appeal despite inevitable development. We are surrounded by ancient water meadows and great open spaces. The people here have a great community spirit.

Where is your favourite place to eat/drink in Sudbury?

Sudbury is lucky to have many different types of eateries ranging from independent restaurants, pubs including national chains and good quality cafes. I often visit either Huffers or Westons Bakery for a quick snack.

What is your favourite Sudbury shop and why?

I like Winch and Blatch as it reminds me of the old fashioned department store but has quality goods at affordable prices.

What is your favourite walk around Sudbury and why?

Following the Talbot Trail throughout the town is a lovely experience and you come across some hidden gems.

What in your opinion is Sudbury’s most inspiring ‘view’ and why?

The view from St Peter’s Tower is wonderful – you can see the whole of the town and the surrounding water meadows.

Have you been to any events/theatre shows recently in Sudbury – can you review them in a few words?

The recent Party in the Park was a great day – free for all to attend with a range of activities and local clubs on show and local musicians in the evening.

Any clubs or organisations in Sudbury that you would recommend or would like to highlight?

The Town Council is working with the Royal British Legion to erect a cascade of poppies from St Peter’s Church in time for Remembrance Day this year. There has been great support from local people and I hope the display is going to be amazing.

Can you sum up in five words why Sudbury is such a great place to live and/or work in?

Great location, historic, community spirit
