Greater Anglia has confirmed the times of its last trains in East Anglia before the festive shutdown – there are no trains in the region on Christmas Day and Boxing Day except a restricted Stansted Express service on Tuesday.
The last trains on Christmas Eve will run during the early evening. The latest you can leave Liverpool Street for Ipswich is 8.15pm – and there is a bus link from Newbury Park to Ingatestone – and the last trains from Ipswich run to London at 8.40pm and to Norwich at 9.50pm.
Full details of the last trains can be found on the Greater Anglia website and there are posters at stations warning people of the latest time they can get home.
There will be no trains until Wednesday morning when a special service will operate – there are no through trains to Liverpool Street until the new year because Network Rail is replacing overhead wires between London and Shenfield.
