Police are appealing for witnesses to the burglary, which happened at Douglas Payne Designs on Hall Street in the village sometime between 5pm on Monday, January 14, and 9am on Tuesday, January 15.

Other items stolen from the gallery and studio included a large Macintosh box, one dress cane, a box with art deco depicting female faces and three candle copper boxes.

Independent business owner Mr Payne said the value of the items stolen was around £1,200.

“It makes me worried every night I go home now that I think it’s going to happen again,” he said.

“It seems like a smash and grab job but it’s amazing that no-one heard anything because it’s a large window.”

Mr Payne, who also had some plant pots stolen from outside his business in a separate incident, added that the break-in has made him consider bringing forward his shop’s impending move away from the village.

Anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour overnight, has knowledge of the whereabouts of any of the items stolen is asked to contact Suffolk Constabulary on 101, quoting crime reference 37/3175/19.
