Babergh and Mid Suffolk councils – where members are split on whether they should merge – have been given a national award for working together.
They have taken the silver award in the Council of the Year category of the 2018 Public Sector Transformation Awards.
And they also took the silver award in the Working Together category at a ceremony held at Church House in Westminster, London.
Babergh council leader John Ward said: “The competition from other councils across the country for these prestigious awards was tough and I would like to congratulate our staff for their hard work which has enabled us to gain this national recognition.”
Mid Suffolk leader Nick Gowrley added: “Working together is the way forward and we have proven that by doing so we can be more efficient and innovative in delivering excellent services for our residents.”
