A SEARCH and rescue crew based in Suffolk transferred a sick baby from Brighton to Leicester in the early hours of this morning.
The crew from Wattisham left at midnight to pick up a specialist medical team at the Glenfield Hospital in Leicester and flew them to Brighton where the baby was in hospital.
They then escorted the crew with the baby back from Brighton to Leicester before returning to their base. The baby was said to have survived the flight.
Wattisham's search and rescue team, which fills in for the region's air ambulances overnight, were judged to be the nearest crew to carry out the job.
