Sharon Bradley, together with partner Danny Grimwood, organised a gathering of nearly 20 Chrysler 300C cars to surprise Danny’s petrol-head father, Collin, 65, who is diagnosed with terminal leukaemia.

Sharon, 53, said the idea came about when Collin decided to create a ‘bucket list’ – a mindmap of things he hoped to experience over the course of his life.

The family noticed that one of Collin’s goals was to attend a gathering of his favourite luxury cars – the Chrysler 300C, and set about organising the surprise of a lifetime.

Sharon said that receiving Collin’s news was heartbreaking, and the family were keen to do all they could to make his last days as special as possible.

“Because he has had leukaemia for a couple of years, you kind of thought he was coming out the other end,” she said.

Sadly, after an appointment with his specialist, Collin was told there was nothing more that could be done to help him.

With the idea firmly in mind, Danny set about creating a secret Facebook group where he could communicate with fellow Chrysler owners.

“Next thing you know, we were trying to find a place to hold it,” Sharon said.

The group settled on Landguard Fort in Felixstowe, where the volunteers made special arrangements for the event.

When the day finally arrived, Collin thought he was going out for a trip with his friends – but his family had other plans.

“17 Chryslers turned up in Felixstowe,” Sharon said. “There were cars covering the whole cul-de-sac.”

Danny told his father to follow the fleet in his own beloved Chrysler 300C, and the luxury cars paraded through the town.

“He was following them all through the town,” Sharon said.

“All through Felixstowe town and the seafront, then to the fort.”

Just when Collin thought the excitement was over, the group planned for the cars to go on show at Festival of Wheels – where they were rewarded with a trophy.

Collin topped off the whirlwind weekend with a heartfelt message to his son.

“A really magnificent weekend and enjoyed myself immensely,” he said.

“Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.”
