A farm in Wickham Market is to scrap its festive display after vandals trashed it for the second time in two years.
The Bridge and Ivy Farm has put up decorations on its land for the past seven years.
Owner Guy Hayward says he has been left “angry and horrified” by the damage which took place on New Year’s Eve and says he has no choice but to stop the annual display.
“I have a Santa inside a small grotto, which was taken apart and thrown over the ground outside,” said Mr Hayward.
“There are also two illuminated reindeer outside, one of which has been partly vandalised.”
It’s not the first time that the display has been damaged in this way.
Last Christmas Mr Hayward was left counting the cost after two reindeer were stolen with vandals also causing other damage to the display.
“The first year I was very upset about it,” said Mr Hayward, “although I had a lot of messages of support so decided to do it again.
“I have yet again had lots of messages of support but this time people say that they don’t blame me for not doing it again.”
A post on the Wickham Market Facebook page, which is run by the town’s partnership, about the damage has attracted over 7000 views and over 100 shares.
Residents expressed their disdain at news of the damage calling it “disgusting behaviour” and “completely unnecessary”.
As well as the damage to the display itself Mr Hayward has been left frustrated by further damage in and around his property in recent weeks.
In late November a car crashed onto Mr Hayward’s land and has yet to be removed.
He said that in the time since the crash the car had been left abandoned and looted with no sign that it would be recovered soon.
Mr Hayward is also concerned about the nearby roundabout which links the B116 and B1078 which he says people have been driving over rather than negotiating properly.
“On a fairly regular basis the roundabout gets driven over, leaving large tyre marks in it,” said Mr Hayward.
“It gets driven over from different directions. I do not know the reason why people drive over it but it looks terrible.”
A spokesman for Suffolk police said that the owners of the car had been made aware of its location..
