Further wet weather is expected tonight as a patch of rainfall moves from the south west into Suffolk.

The county has seen persistent rainfall throughout the day as well as high winds.

However despite the constant downpour, forecasters at Weatherquest have said the rainfall is not heavy.

Phil Garner at Weatherquest said winds are pushing the rains across the county quickly which has reduced the level of rainfall – between three and four millimetres of rain is estimated to have fallen.

However a further patch of rain is set to bring more showers tonight before clearing away around 8am tomorrow.

Winds so far have risen to between 40 and 42 mph which, while hard, are not as severe as the 60 mph gusts seen recently.

Mr Garner added that the unsettled weather was likely to continue into the weekend and early next week.

“There are areas of low pressure coming from the west that will continue this week and into the weekend.”

“We are not likely to get any major flooding issues, but there is a small risk of localised floods with the ground being wet. The showers are fairly spaced out,” he said.

The Environment Agency currently has no flood warnings or alerts issued for Suffolk.
