Suffolk is already a hit with humans – but it’s now officially home to the country’s top holiday destination for dogs.

VisitEngland announced Letheringham Water Mill, near Wickham Market, as winner of the 2017 Dog Friendly Business of the Year.

The accolade was handed out during the Awards for Excellence ceremony at London’s Waldorf Hilton.

Jacqui and Richard Gooding bought the Mill House at Letheringham in 2014 creating dog friendly holiday cottages, complete with indoor dog shower for use after muddy walks, where four-legged guests are welcomed with personalised crates containing practical items and treats.

Mr Gooding said: “We are absolutely thrilled to win this coveted award. It’s wonderful for such a small business to be recognised nationally.”

The Sinfield Trust’s Secret Meadows, at White House Farm Wildlife Site, Hasketon, was a runner-up for Glamping Provider of the Year.
