An Ipswich drug dealer who was arrested as part of a police operation targeting the supply of Class A drugs in the town has been locked up for 12 months.

Jason Mohammed was sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court in August last year to 20 months custody suspended for 24 months and ordered to do 300 hours unpaid work for possessing heroin with intent to supply.

Earlier today, the court heard that Mohammed, 41, of Kipling Road, Ipswich, had admitted breaching the suspended sentence order by failing to turn up for two unpaid work appointments.

He also accepted he had breached the order by stealing four bottles of whisky worth £60 from Asda in Stoke Park Drive, Ipswich, and razor blades worth £350 from a Morrison’s store.

Jailing Mohammed for 12 months Judge Martyn Levett said he had given Mohammed a chance by giving him a suspended prison sentence and had trusted him not to breach it.

Kathryn Nutter, representing Mohammed, said her client had completed 111 hours of the unpaid work order and the time he had spent in custody awaiting sentence had been a huge shock for him.
