The former heavy weight tipped the scales at 20st but a cancer scare made him re-evaluate his lifestyle choices.

He shed four stone after switching to Weight Watcher recipes prepared by his wife Marion, and was then spurred on to join the slimming group himself.

He said: “I had been overweight for years and after a cancer scare I started to eat the same foods as Marion. As recipe cards and books were brought home, I began cooking some of our meals.

“After I had lost four stone I decided to join Weight Watchers online and was encouraged by Marion to go to a meeting. So in May 2017, I attended my first meeting.”
