A machete wielding driver is reported to have deliberately smashed his car into a vehicle in a “targeted attack” in Ipswich.

Suffolk police were called to reports of a crash at the junction between London Road, Yarmouth Road and West End Road, at around 7.20pm on Sunday, April 22.

A silver Vauxhall Corsa is said to have been driven on purpose into a black Mercedes, which was waiting at the traffic lights.

The Mercedes then struck a blue Toyota Rav4.

The Corsa driver is then said to have left his car and threatened someone in the Toyota while holding what is believed to have been a machete.

He got back into his damaged Corsa and drove off along West End Road, where the vehicle stopped near to the entrance to EMC Motor Group.

Two men were reportedly seen getting out of the car and making off in a grey mini, which was described as having dark tinted front windows.

A machete was recovered near to the scene.

The Corsa driver is described as a white male aged in his 20s who was wearing a tracksuit and the second male as being white and wearing a baseball cap.

Police are appealing to anyone who has information relating to the incident, in particular anyone who may have any CCTV or dash-cam footage, to contact Suffolk Police on 101 quoting crime reference 37/21671/18. Alternatively, they can call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
