A man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary following the theft of a popular seafront attraction.

The Lowestoft land train, which carries passengers along the town’s promenade throughout the summer, was stolen from its storage container between 4.30pm on Tuesday, July 17 and 10.45am on Wednesday July 18.

Sporting a blue locomotive with a Thomas the Tank Engine face, the train is stored overnight in a blue shipping container off Kirkley Cliff Road between Kensington Gardens and St Mary’s Catholic Primary School.

Police investigating the theft arrested a 41-year-old man from Lowestoft yesterday, July 30, on suspicion of burglary.

He was taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning and subsequently released under investigation yesterday evening, pending further enquiries.
