A Suffolk police officer has been sacked for abusing his position and misusing the force’s computer system for personal purposes.
Pc Luke Burgin was dismissed without notice following a misconduct hearing at Suffolk police headquarters, in Martlesham Heath, earlier this month.
Pc Burgin was alleged to have misused Suffolk Constabulary computer systems for personal purposes in 2016 and abused his position to the detriment of a person with whom the officer had a personal connection – breaching the expected standards of professional behaviour in the areas of confidentiality, discreditable conduct and integrity.
A two-day hearing between June 11 and 13, overseen by legally qualified chairman James Tumbridge, found that Pc Burgin had breached the standards of professional behaviour. He was dismissed without notice and has the right to take the case to a police appeals tribunal.
