Cash and drugs were found on a person in a railway station search, leading to an arrest.

Stowmarket Police officers Tweeted that they had found the items in a search at the town’s train station on Wednesday, September 19.

They Tweeted a photograph of the haul they uncovered, which included several £20 notes and drugs packaged up in bags.

Suffolk police have a long-running campaign to crack down on drug crime in the county.

Officers arrested more than 150 people in connection with the supply of class A drugs across the county between January and July this year, with £18,000 and 2,800 wraps of drugs such as heroin and cocaine seized.

However despite county policing commander Ch Supt Tonya Antonis has warned: “We can’t merely ‘arrest our way out’ of the situation – more long long term work is continuing with our partners to develop our response further.”

She added: “We want to make Suffolk a hostile environment for those who think they can come into our county and deal drugs.”
