The Christmas spirit is alive and well in Newmarket as more than 100 people gathered for a festive party.

The seventh annual event, held at Newmarket Academy on Friday, December 15, was organised by Suffolk Constabulary PCSO Hannah Rogers, from the town’s Safer Neighbourhood Team.

Ms Rogers said the get-together was “fantastic”.

She added: “This event was targeted at local people who, perhaps as more vulnerable members of our community, really enjoyed spending an afternoon enjoying the entertainment and celebrating Christmas in great company.”

Children from Newmarket Academy, Paddocks Primary School and Laureate Primary School provided entertainment.

Ms Rogers thanked local businesses including Waitrose, Marks and Spencer and Tesco for their support.

Bingo games were run by Graham Passey and food was made and served by catering students.
