Veterans and former members of the armed forces gathered at the Suffolk Showground for a convention aimed at offering information and advice to ex-servicemen and women.
The free event at Trinity Park was coordinated under the Suffolk Armed Forces Community Covenant – a voluntary pledge of mutual support between the civilian community and local armed forces community in October 2012, including Suffolk County Council, local authorities, the voluntary and community sector, and armed forces units stationed in, or linked to the county.
The community covenant operated in partnership with local representatives of the military community and aims to develop closer links between the community and armed forces personnel, their families and service veterans. Retired colonel Rae Leighton is Suffolk’s Armed Forces Commissioner at the county council.
Exhibitors at the networking event included the Royal British Legion, SSAFA, Age UK Suffolk, and an IT Information Corner.
