A crowd of around 500 people saw powerful competitors pull trucks, deadlift cars and lift barrels at Suffolk’s Strongest Man and Woman contest at the weekend.
The event, which is now in its fifth year, took place in the car park at Tesco, in Sudbury, on Sunday and raised £1,200 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
Competitors took on five strength challenges – log press, car deadlift, truck pull, car squat and loading medley – with Dan McNamee crowned Suffolk’s strongest man and Lisa Corallini taking the women’s title.
Champion Dan, who also organised the contest, said: “I was diagnosed with a heart condition this year so the result and fundraising for the BHF had extra meaning.
“The event is getting bigger every year and more people keep coming forward with offers of help.
“I’d really like to thank Zest Gym for all their help in providing the equipment free of charge, and Lookers Ford in Sudbury for their £500 sponsorship.”
